The Korean Stamp Museum was opened to public on April 15,Juche 101 (2012) in order to hand down to posterity the immortal exploits performed by peerlessly great persons of Mt Paektu in the history of postal development and showcase the history of Korean stamp development.
The museum preserves and puts on display over 6 200 valuse of Korean stamp and postal stationeries including "Samson Rocks" and "Rose of Sharon", the first postage stamps issued on March 12, Juche 35 (1946), related postal remains and historical documents, which help the philatelists, stamp lovers and foreign vistiors to the DPRK have a better understanding of the history of Korea. It also sells the stamps, postal stationeries and souvenirs.
Also on display are immortal revolutionary historical documents about peerlessly great persons of Mt Paektu, stamps and postcards issued in the late feudal Joson dynasty, and diplomas, medals and cups the Korean stamps snatched at the world and international stamp exhibitions. The visitors can have a detailed briefing about the history of Korean postal development and some episodes.
