The State Stamp Bureau of the DPRK, situated at Yokjo-dong, Central District, Pyongyang, was founded on Marth 12, Juche 35 (1946). The 70-year history of the State Stamp Bureau which has followed the road of proud development with the DPRK is deeply associated with the immortal efforts devoted by the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il for issue of postage stamps. Kim Il Sung personally saw the first postage stamps of liberated Korea, "Samson Rocks" and "Rose of Sharon", to give precious teachings which would serve as guidelines in issuing the stamps. He also paid deep attention to the stamp issue in the periods of building a new democratic Korea, the Fatherland Liberation War, post-war rehabilitation and reconstruction, and socialist construction.

With an in-depth grasp of importance of stamp issue Kim Jong Il had delved into the stamp design and issue and 3D photo making. The State Stamp Bureau, a sole postal security issuing establishment in the DPRK, has been dealing with design, issue, collection, research and distribution of stamps, postal securities, philately-related printed matters and media, and 3D hpotos, all of which in a historial point of view give a vivid represntation of and wide publicity to the immortal revolutionary career of the great leaders and their priceless revolutionary exploits, and the present era in which the Korean   army  and   people  are   striving   to   build  a  powerful  socialist  country  under  the  wise  leadership  of superme  leader Kim Jong Un.

The Bureau has been issuing different kinds of postal securities and publishing philately-related printed matters by relying on a team of talented designers and editors and a printing house equipped with modern equipment, thus actively contributing to postal communication service and philatelic activities. It has also been doing well cooperation with different countries in the field of stamp design and issue including the issue of joint stamps. Today the Bureau has been making a tangible contribution to the building of a socialist civilized power and cultural lesisure activites of the Korean people under the energetic leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
